Our last meeting was well attended, and our speaker Ken Hawkins, the previous Mayor of Solihull, proved to be most entertaining with his comments on his 12 Months in Office.
As the youngest Councillor to take the role, Ken advised us of his intention to keep people informed of his progress via all the possible multimedia channels to include facebook and twitter (for those interested in a bit more background information on his year detail can be found on solihullmayor.wordpress.com/)
A response was given to the speaker by John S who in his normal fashion passed the thanks of Moseley 41 club, not only for the Ken’s time speaking to us but also to all those groups and individuals who give time to help the community.
We also received a letter of thanks from Roger W’s granddaughter for our support for her marathon run which she completed in less than 5 hours (well done!)
Our Chairman, Tony, kept business to a minimum in view of the speakers presence but did mention a few quick items which I note for your benefit
1) Our golfing day looms and I have attached a further reminder for your benefit, please remember this is a normal meeting date and booking in and out for the meal is as usual, however if you wish to play golf please contact Peter H as a matter of urgency.
2) Chris G mentioned 41 Club regional Golf the details are: 2nd July at Kings Norton Golf Club, Teams of Four, Bacon Baps and Coffee and Dinner £42.00, Dinner only £20.00
3) Tony confirmed he is looking to undertake a Ladies night on the evening of Saturday the 1st of March 2014 at the St John’s hotel in Solihull and asked members to give an indication of interest, to allow him to ensure the suite booked was appropriate for the number of people looking to attend.
4) Ian B gave an update on Stan C. Stan is now out of hospital and recovering at home. He is still not very mobile and it is likely to take some time more before he is back to where he was before his fall. He is able to take telephone calls should anyone wish to have a chat with him.
